Mariner's Day Tours of the Race Point Lightstation!
How would you like to visit the Race Point Lightstation, which sits two miles out in the sand dunes of the Cape Cod National Seashore? Well, on Sunday, May 18th, from 9am - 2pm, visitors can meet our volunteers for a free ride out to this magnificent location! Climb the 1876 light tower, where one can take in the breathtaking views from up above, as well as tour both the Keeper's House and Whistle House, where there will be light refreshments and gifts available to commemorate your visit.
This tour is free and all proceeds in the gift shop go back to the continual upkeep of this historic lightstation. Visitors will be able to meet a retired U.S. Coast Guardsman who was instrumental in saving this jewel from ruin almost 20 years ago. Volunteers will meet you at the Race Point Beach parking lot (located in the Cape Cod National Seashore and just beyond the Provincetown Airport; signage will be posted), where you will be able to catch your ride out to the lighthouse! See you there!
The Race Point Lighthouse is a chapter of the non-profit, American Lighthouse Foundation and operates overnight stays from May through mid-November with a group of over 70 local volunteers.
